It's Time for your biennial update

FMCSA GUIDELINES

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires all entities under its jurisdiction to update their information every two years.

You are required to provide this update every two years even if your company has not changed its information, has ceased interstate operations since the last update, or is no longer in business and you did not notify FMCSA.

Failure to complete a Biennial Update will result in deactivation of your USDOT number and may result in civil penalties of up to $1,000 per day, not to exceed $10,000.

In 2 minutes or less, you can keep your company and authority current with the FMCSA.

As  a motor carrier, your Vehicle Miles Travelled (VMT) and Power Unit (PU) data from your Motor Carrier Registration Form are used to calculate your Unsafe Driving and Crash Indicator Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Category (BASIC) percentiles? Your CSA safety scores may be used to determine your company's insurance rates, broker freight rates and could even invite a US DOT compliance review.

VMT and power units

Your VMT and Power Units also affect your SMS percentiles, which you should update annually.

It is mandatory to keep your USDOT record current every two years.  If your records are outdated you may be subject to inactivation by the USDOT. Your VMT and Power Units also affect your SMS percentiles, which you should update annually.
